Yes, some are from Lake Tahoe -- 1033 and 1034 -- probably
others. Couple cars still up there, including a double-end car
that was made from two single end Baby Tens!!! Lettuce see if I
can include some photos!! Found some but have some in snow that
show the DE Baby Ten much better.
.
Had 1034 on a charter a couple days after Abandonment of PCC service
in 1982, 10-PM until 3-AM or thereabouts on All Lines and also along
Market Street. We went through EBT and headed outbound on Market,
took the point on crossover to the inbound track and Intended to
operated through EBT backwards but the backup controller wouldn't work
so had to back through the crossover from the front seat and resume
normal operations!!
.
1034 was my favorite Baby Ten -- soft springs, excellent ride, great
acceleration, always enjoyed operating that car. Baby Tens
'similar' to PRCo PCC Interurbans 1700--1724 with B3 trucks -- one
of the Baby Tens had a horn for a short spell as well!!!
.
Church and Duboce is a blind intersection with tracks on both
streets. When I operated PCCs there, the normal double track turn
off Duboce for the J was in place as well as a pull-in turn for the
N-line. X-Overs on both Church and Duboce. I was inbound
with Charter_1025 (another Baby Ten!!) and we back through the X-Over
on Church, took the Outbound J up to Duboce, went the wrong way around
the turn to west on Duboce, outbound on the inbound N track and the
X-Over to the outbound - westbound - track on Duboce to Ocean
Beach! Did ALL this without checking, without help, without
interference from other TrolleyCars! Worked out great.
.
Took 1190 backwards from Sunset to the Zoo and back to Sunset where I
had to take the X-Over and make that loop again on the L-Taraval, also a
charter!!!
.
Fun and Games with TrolleyCars!!!
