Okay, at last I follow. Your map is certainly plausible.

And here's a bit of supporting evidence: With the new loop in place, the X-Zoo 
services which had previously come directly from the city via Vine Street now 
ran via Reading Road, Melish, Burnet & Erkenbrecher. This roundabout routing, 
which puzzled me, suddenly becomes understandable if there was no access to the 
loop from Vine Street.

(In the interest of thoroughness, I have to add that there was another change 
in the X-Zoo at the same time. Anybody burning to know about that can contact 
me privately - no need to confuse things further.)
