Either I didn't know anyone could post on the Derrrick's list or I  
didn't know my old buddy Rich was a member but I think the good  
physician outranks Fred3 when it comes to cynicism.   I guess that  
comes from working every day at a hospital in the bowels of North  
Philadelphia.   Rich, you forgot mentioning having to carry your  
car's license plate inside the car to prevent having it stolen.    
Philadelphians know that there is a clause in the state's motor  
vehicle code (or a regulation) that allows people from that part of  
the state the liberty of protecting their license stickers.   You  
cannot get a license renewal in Pennsylvania without insurance and  
third-party insurance in Philadelphia is so expensive that many  
resort to cutting the corner stickers off other people's license  
plates or stealing the whole plates.   I've counted as many as three  
cars in one block on Chestnut Street one morning with the corners cut  
out of plates.
