And West Liberty Avenue was not the main road to Washington in 1916. A
paved road on the Route 19 alignment between Clifton (McLaughlin Run Road)
and Donaldson's Crossroads (McMurray Road) was not built until 1940. The
road to Washington was the Washington Pike, through the West End, Crafton,
Carnegie, Bridgeville, Canonsburg and Houston.
