Okay, John...you've pretty much have the answer.
The coach in the left picture is indeed an ex-CTA Marmon-Herrington, running in Guadalajara.
How does this relate to the Rogers Road shuttle?
When the CTA ended trolley coach operations, most of the Marmon-Herringtons were sold to Guadalajara.
Much of the CTA's trolley coach overhead special work was donated to the Illinois Railway Museum.
The IRM sold some of the special work to the TTC, which in turn, used it for the conversion of the Rogers Road car line to trolley coach operation.
So the common denominator between the two images was CTA's abandonment of trolley coach operation.
Incidently, the modifications done to the Marmons did not make them totally unrecognizable. My wife studied in Mexico for a semester while attending college, during the early 1980s. During her first visit to IRM in 1995, upon seeing a CTA M-H sitting outside the barn, she blurted out, "Guadalajara!"
Incidently, some of the proceeds from the hardware sale to the TTC paid for the construction of the museum's first trolley coach barn.
K.
