Well, he does blame the automobile as he points out that the peak of busses
running in the US was in the early 50's. The greatest generation was tired
of living through the depression and the war. They wanted it all and
personally, I do not blame them.
The book is part of a series of the history and development of various
technologies written by different authors. The book is really not designed
for railfans, but they should enlighten themselves.
The series covers:
sound recording
rockets
firearms
autos
electronics
railroads
computers
books
radio
American military technology
airplanes
telephone
I have not read any of these.
