  Pittsburgh Railways Charles and Perrysville

I took this shot in Pittsburgh around 1963.PCC 1673 waits on the end of
the 21 FINE VIEW line. The FINE VIEW line was the most incredible line
anywhere: up steep hills, tight curves around narrow streets, then a
right of way that was only the paved trolley tracks. Even though it was
technically Pittsburgh Railways private right of way, people used to
drive on it freely. When the line was abandoned the busses couldn't
negotiate the steep hills, so they just left the neighborhood without
public transportation of any kind. Lloyd Rosevear photo

I recall reading a Pgh Press article that stated there'd be no bus
replacement, however, wasn't there eventually a bus route that somehow
made it up there? It probably didn't travel the exact same route, but
came close.
