I now realize that some demolition was done during the early 1960s to 
accommodate the new Civic Center. That occurred before Roberta photographed 
the Hill District. As I understand it, several blocks of buildings were torn 
down.

There was also some sort of "urban renewal" project going on in the Turtle 
Creek during the 1960s as well.

Plus all the freeway construction...
