Pittsburgh has a lot of grades, but first impression is that this is an
older development neighborhood. The trolley era seemed to produce duplex
housing. This looks more like high density apartment type neighborhood that
might have preceeded the trolley era. Lower hill district comes to mind.
Wonder what lower end of Troy Hill looked like? And the grade eliminates
Birmingham, Manchester and the Point.
Boris also mentioned that this came from magazine around 1950. Why would
you print this sort of pix of Pittsburgh around 1950? To illustrate
redevelopment?
These are all just guesses.
