Yes, Jim, but remember how many times I isolated San Francisco, New
York and Chicago city proper from the rest of the United States.
Jim, my heart is in many places. I'm a citizen of the world. My
news comes from Deutschewelle, the Mancester Guardian on line, the
local news services, friends around the world. I'm simply not an
isolationist who lives only in Manheim Township, Lancaster County,
Pennsylvania and ignores the rest of the world. I love the Swiss
Alps, I find it fabulous to enjoy a day in the Canadian Rockies or
driving across Nevada. Southern Utah is enough to make you believe
there is perhaps a being greater than you are. It's inspiring.
It's not hard for me to enjoy a day walking along the Seine in Paris
or an afternoon in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London looking
at John Constable paintings. And my granddaughter and great
grandchild are both here. I've found in my separation from my wife
that I've got some fabulous friends everywhere from Pittsburgh or
North Carolina to Munich. But why move? You can always visit.
But if I'm lucky I might just find a companion whose cup is half full
instead of half empty ... someone like me who can enjoy wandering,
likes people of all persuasions and races, and food from
everywhere. Wasn't sure where I was going tonight for dinner. I
thought there was either a bowl of Pho in the Vietnamese restaurant
or a plate of Cajun blackened catfish with my name on it. Instead I
wound up eating sushi and sashini and seaweed soup tonight.
It's a big world and I've not found any of it yet that I didn't like
except perhaps there is some reluctance to go back to Russia. But
maybe I'd like to go look at the small towns in Russia.
