Much More to the point --
....... It *I~S* the *Attitude_of_the_Heart*
....... That *I~S* the Center of ALL Problems.
.
....... I~F we truly want to get along with our neighbor,
....... ....... then NO--Thing is a barrier.
.
....... If we don't want to get along with our neighbor
....... ....... then we *USE*
....... ....... ....... Language --
....... ....... ....... Race
....... ....... ....... ETC. as a barrier.
.
Problems come from WithIn, Not WithOut. Those who use such to
divide are ThemSelves First Guilty of same. You Shall Even see
elements of same Right Here On This List!!!
.
We have grown much as a group but if you look at Noah's ArkIves for this
group you Will See that it has been said that we Americans are Bad
people because we only know one language. People Are People Are
People wherever in the World -- ALL come from Human Mold and that
Mold is getting Weaker with time. Much of what Any Human does is
because he is forced into it -- Step out the front door in Europe and
you are in different country from stepping out the back door -- you
need to know another language or you are doomed. Here in the
U.S.A. we can literally go Thousands of Miles and still be in English
Speaking Territory -- OK(~!~!~!~!) -- American Speaking
Terrible-Tory~!~!~!~! Hope this doesn't unleash That Terrible
Topic~!~!~!~!
.
We have a tendency to bash our own (U.S.A.) to elevate self -- THAT
was said by someone else on the list in the last couple days in the
context of govt. -- elevate self by putting someone else down --
Very Basic if Not Insidious InHuman Trait~!~!~! EveryOne --
Every Village -- Every Hamlet -- Every Town -- Every City --
Every County -- Every State -- Every Country -- Every Island --
Every Continent (Non-Exhaustive Listing Here~!~!~!~!)
*Definitely__Has__Problems* but each has Gifts that can be used in
Harmony with Gifts of others for benefit of All. The easy thing is
to be isolationist / to divide ---- it can be extremely difficult
to go the other way to work toward harmony. They say it
*Takes__Work* to make a marriage work and in this era of Fast Food and
Instant Gratification we tend to think of I__Do as the end of it
all. AnyThing worth doing Takes Much Effort And Work -- Even Our
Hobbies~!~!~!~!
.
Ask most here or anywhere and Europe Always Does It Right -- we
Americans Don't. *Grass__Is__Greener* syndrome Pure And Simple
-- NO--Thing more and NO--Thing Less. In 99_44/100% of cases
it has NO-Thing to do with Right // Wrong but simply what is expedient
for the current conditions / people / culture / ETC. Visiting any
Place is One Thing -- Living in that place is an entirely different
matter. Regardless of how well in control of self we claim it will
be difficult no matter where we live because of the Local PollyTicks.
.
The Person We Fool Most Often Is SELF.......
....... Others See Right Through it.
.
.
THANK___YOU for the listing below which reveals that everyone has
problems. Fighting in Spain as well, isn't there, over regional
differences. Again -- NOT language that is dividing but it
*I~S* the Attitude of the Heart of the People Involved --
Period. People will say that """Money_Is_The_Root_Of_All_Evil"""
-- a quote from the Bible which many of the same people profess not to
believe. The Quote Actually I~S:
"""LOVE_Of_Money_Is_The_Root_Of_All_Evil""" ---- Altitude of the
Heart. 'Money' 'Language' are Objects that can Only be Used /
Abused by InHumans.

Just look @ Belgium-threatened w/ break-up despite relative prosperity, the always- strong separatist movement in Quebec, w/ some thoroughly vile demagoguery, what happened in old USSR, the Balkans, Kuridsh regions of Iran, Iraq, Turkey-some religious and ehtnic baggage for sure, but where dialogue is impossible, all else breaks down.

>>
>> But within your commentary I feel a certain dissatisfaction too. Sad isn't it that politicians in any country feel that they can only get support from their constituents if they are running someone else down. Sort of like the newspapers which can only make money if they print bad news. And the churches who are always right ... my church that is, your church is always wrong, or so it seems. <BG>

>>> Quebec doesn't have 12 million people, much less 12 million separatists; they got two chances to pass a referendum and failed both times.
>>>
>>> Language is certainly a political issue here (I moved to Montreal a few weeks ago). One of the former Parti Quebecois governments even banned commercial signs in English. Eventually it was struck down by the courts, but they allowed a "reasonable compromise": now French just has to be at least twice as big on signs. And despite having caused an exodus of English Canadians from Montreal in the '80s, so that English is now definitely a minority language in the city, the separatist politicians still rant and rave about how if they don't do this, that and the other to support French (which really means suppressing English), French will vanish instantly. The latest threat that will magically destroy French in Quebec is immigrants, who are supposedly all learning English and not French. There's no data to back this up, but who needs facts?
