Caught a northbound Express on the Broad Street Line after the Flyers
game last night. Good, fast ride. The first stop was Walnut-Locust,
then the express track to Fern Rock. I could see the electronic
speedometer in the cab, and the train reached 64 mph as it passed by
Susquehanna-Dauphin, then 62 mph passing Wyoming Avenue.
I noticed something interesting, looking out the front of the train just
north of Olney Avenue. It looks like a set of two tracks goes up a ramp
(or the tracks that the train took ramped down - it was hard to tell).
Why the grade separation? Was the track layout there set up to be a
junction of some sort?
