The Illinois Rwy Museum in Union, Ill took delivery last week of four 
new journal box castings made specifically for use on their Illinois 
Terminal Birney car. This car has been in the collection for some time, 
sitting on a non-prototypical truck. One of the key points in holding 
back restoration of this car was not being able to secure a proper 
truck, these new journal castings will allow for in-house building of a 
correct truck. Interestingly enough, the car was obtained for the truck 
that it originally had and the body was supposed to be scrapped, 
instead the truck was scrapped and IRM ended up with the car body. Now 
after all these years, the project can (money and bodies willing) move 
forward to restoring this car.
