Jim, Fred-
The drip rail castings that Fred provided are indeed on hand (we even
have the original packing list), and I believe the windshield frames are
actually on the car.
LARy 3001 has actually undergone several restoration projects. One of
the earliest restored the car to its chrome yellow appearance for an
early ARM convention at OET. A later project restored the windshield to
"as built" condition, presumably using the parts you provided. Our more
recent restoration completed a lot of unfinished details (example: new
rubber and glass in the windows, changing the bumper bolts to the
correct chrome football-shaped oval carriage bolts) and we repainted the
car from the letterboard down, which it really needed. The paint on the
roof, which includes the drip rail end castings simulated with painted
stripes, was deemed to be in good shape, so we simply cleaned it up and
let it be for now. Returning the drip rail end castings to the car would
have been a major project, and in the interest of "spreading the wealth
around" to the fleet instead of just sinking it all into one car, we
decided to defer that portion of the work.
The next phase of the project involves adding the interior lettering.
Hopefully you'll get a chance to see the car for yourself. In the mean
time there are photos on the website:
