Hello all-
I know this is going to sound unfair and may be down right offensive to
some... so I apologize in advance.
First off, I cannot wait to see these buses in action! They should
really cool and would be an asset for San Francisco.
Now...
After reading about how the disabled rights activists brought up the
fact that the double decked bus will not have 'equitable' service
because of the lack of lift to the second deck is EXACTLY what is wrong
with this country. It shouldn't be a 'right' to sit on the second deck
of a PUBLIC bus. You are getting the exact same service, going to the
exact same place at the EXACT same time as everyone else on the bus. It
just so happens that you have to sit in the designated spots for
handicapped persons. I don't see them raising a holler over the fact
that you can't have a wheelchair in the REAR of a bus.
Frankly, my response to this kind of statement would be "If you want to
sit on the second deck of a bus and see San Francisco, Gray Line offers
several great tours at attractive prices."
A municipal bus is for transportation, not for sitting on a second deck
to admire the city.
/my two cents.
