You have an Interesting Sense of Hummer, Jerry~!~!~!~! To step out
of character and be Cereal for a moment -- The *Tourists* of which I
speak are those who come here on Vacation and have plans for returning
home. In spite of the lower dollar which works to their advantage
in an Huge Way when visiting here -- as it Used To Do for us in the
past when we visited foreign locales -- these Peebles Are Not Coming In.
.
My *Geese* is that FL is much worse relative to illegal immigration
than CA // AX // TX even though we have a land connection to a foreign
country whereas FL immigrants arrive by sea -- if they are
lucky. CA may have more bleeding hearts than FL, at least in the
SF Bay Area, and SF has declared itself a harbor for illegals.
Sends the wrong message, doesn't it~?~!~?
.
I have met Many Wonderful People from Many Different Nations here in
SF. One was an illegal Mexican but this was early 1990s -- he
was a passenger, his step father had been killed in an auto accident,
and I stepped in to help out. It was easy then to get the
immigration thing worked out and I sponsored him on a Legal Student
Visa. Good Kid, Good Student, Great Desire to get his feet on the
ground to do the right thing but he didn't feel he had done anything
wrong when he was illegal -- he couldn't see the problem. Takes
time to learn some things.
.
His girlfriend in Mexico City didn't understand his desire to live in
the USA -- she had a successful career there and was happy at
home. She told him to come home Or Else -- He went home --
still got Or Else.
.
He came back to the USA but to Houston, met a Very Nice Girl there and
married on the rebound. I went down to visit just before his first
child was born. Has two boys, first named after me, haven't heard
anything since. Such is Life.
.
.
My favorite foreign passengers are the Arabs -- MANY from Yemen --
Very Small Country -- Very Much Amazed that so many can come from such
a small place~!~!~!~! Very warm and friendly people, genuinely
appreciate the bus service, work together with their friends as if
Family -- Family Values are *Truly__Family__Values* with them and
make our Family Values look like HippoCrazy~!~!~! (As an aside,
when it is time for me to leave I ask about anyone missing, they get on
cell phones to call, and we wait if they can make it or else we move
on~!~!) Yes, Terrorists were very warm and friendly so we Just
Don't Know. But that is true of everyone -- King David writes
that someone with whom he went to Synagogue Every Day -- His Own
Countryman -- stabbed him in the back -- we Just Don't Know --
need to take everyone at face value and trust our instincts.
.
.
Dassn't matter the subject -- there shall ALWAYS be people on
either side of an issue (orange--vs--Orange comes to mind~!~!~!~!,)
180-Degrees apart. USA is a nation of immigrants -- yes, most of
us born here but the nation was formed as a result of immigration not
many centuries ago. And while we are a very wealthy nation, we are
not a bottomless pit of money and can't do right by everyone and anyone
who wants to come here. We have rules concerning immigration and
they should be followed. I am not interested in the Letter of the
Law (as some of the Self-appointed Geesestapos on transit / rail
facilities) but the Spirit of the Law which allows room for compassion.
