If the US became a dictatorship, do you think everyone would decide their
kids didn't need to eat after all, and would stop coming there?  People
coming to the US doesn't mean that it's great, just that they think it's
better than wherever they are.  Is being richer (or just having more
cars?) than poor semi-democratic countries and dictatorships all that
Americans have left to aspire to?

BTW, people from countries where "quality of life" is as good or higher
than the US aren't trying to get into the US much anymore.  Tourism
from Europe is down; imagine what it would be if the dollar were stronger.
