Frank Fairbanks' collection was one that PTM reluctantly turned down. Frank
wanted to keep it all together, and it was only about 5% trolley (or less).
He "collected mileage" on railroads and was all over the world in pursuit of
that goal, so most of his interest was railroad. We had neither the space
nor the staff, let alone the interest, to curate this quantity of material
outside our mission.
Frank was a great guy, and a Fairbanks family foundation continutes to
support PTM on a very regular basis. But the collection is better housed at
PHLF than at PTM.
