Hi

As far as I know 1937 or 1938 was the end of West Penn cars in Mckeesport.
Penn Transit took over and the car barn was next door on Walnut St to the bus
garage. Cannot remember the year but the car barn became Menzie Dairy's garage.
I cannot remember any West Penn cars in Duquesne. Probably started going to
Kennywood about 39 or 40.

Can remember riding the West Penn from just this side of Olympia Park and the
fare was 3 cents to McKeesport. The stop was behind the Bye and Fly on Walnut
St. This is now the intersection of Will and Walnut St. After Penn Transit
started operating the only street cars in McKeesport were the 56, 68 and the 99.

The other bus services were Mckeesport Transit with their garage on Bowman
Ave (Tinplate Hill or Highland Grove) and they went to East Pittsburgh. Port Vue
and Liberty Boro had bus service but I cannot remember the name, but it
eventually became Carl Boe bus lines with their garage on Liberty Way in Libery
Boro. The only other bus service was Pgh Railways Wilmerding.

Was raised in Versailles Twp this became Eden Park boro and then the 12th
Ward of Mckeesport. The other part of Versailles Twp later became White Oak Boro.
Started riding Pgh Railways when the Sunday pass was I think 20 cents and if
you had an old pass only 15 cents.
