My grandmother revered the man. He could do nothing wrong.

He was an early promoter of the airline industry, as well. I have a
videotape of him extolling the virtues of Eastern Air Lines, and it is said
that he was responsible for making South Florida a year-round destination
(South Florida is where I learned all about humidity in the summer of 1954,
a couple months short of my 9th birthday). Eddie Rickenbacher appreciated
what he did so much that he gave him a DC-3 when it came out of the
airline's service in 1953 when the last of the Martins arrived.

Now of course anything goes on radio or Tv, but, in ye old days shows ended
either 29:30 or 59:30 after the hour. Godfrey on CBS radio was so popular,
he was the first person to be allowed to "run over".
