Portland City Council has committed $27 million toward the $147 million 
cost of an eastward extension of Portland Streetcar according to a story 
in The Oregonian. Approximately half of the needed capital cost would 
come from federal funding. TriMet will submit a grant request on behalf 
of the streetcar system.  Service could start in February 2011:

Portland Streetcar now operates a mixed fleet of Czech-built modern 
streetcars: the original group is comprised of Skoda's Astra design. The 
latest come from Inekon, which supplied Trio streetcars Nos. 008-010 to 
Portland. The first in-service photos on the Web now are posted although 
the caption mislabeled the Inekon car as an Astra:

The car body differences between the two designs are a bit subtle.    
However, the Inekon Trio is a double-ended streetcar.
