Here is a very real example of street name versus rerouting changes.
I was attempting to make some sense out of car barn assignments for
the 105 Bellevue, 108 East Street, 11 East Street, 10 West View and
15 Bellevue West View lines. Were they different lines? Was 105 a
predecessor of 15 or of 13? Both, I think.
But in August 1903 it ran from Home Avenue (Bellevue), Lincoln
Avenue, California Avenue, Sedgewick St., Washington Ave., Fremont
St., Jackson St., Montery St., North Ave., Federal St., Ohio St.,
Sandusky St., Lacock St., Anderson St., 9th St. Bridge, Duquesne Way,
7th St., 6th Avenue, Smithfield St. (terminus). Smithfield St., 7th
Avenue, Liberty Ave., 9th St. Bridge and then the same route back to
Bellevue.
OK now lets go to 1965 or 1966 when the line quit:
Wherever Home Avenue was, I don't know. Lincoln Avenue, California
Avenue, Brighton Road, Jacksonia, Montery, North Avenue, Federal
Street, 6th, Penn, Stanwix, Fort Duquesne to 6th and return.
Note that Jacksonia has been renamed Jackson. The routing via
Sedgewick and Washington has disappeared. In fact I think Sedgewick
might have been an extension of California that was renamed.
Fremont was renamed Brighton Road on the inner end.
Now compound this with 110 routes and you can see why Ollie Miller
was having problems.
