Y~E~S~!~!~!~! This has been my experience for 30+ years in SF as
well and underscores what I have said before -- peebles are peebles no
matter where you go~!~! Goes along with my 10% theory taken from the
Investing world (which says that a 10% *_Average_* Annual Yield Is
Excellent) where maybe 10% of the peebles watch the signs, 10% of the
info on this list is of Personal Interest, *_Maybe_* only 10% is
accurate (And we Know whose Posts are Accurate 99_44/100% of the
time~!~!~!,) etc. etc., put 100% effort into a project but expect only a
10% yield~!~!~!
.
Working Run_153_/_30 in the late 1980s - Flyer Trolley Coach. We get
into Chinatown and Asian man says: """Your Sign said
15-Kearny~!~!~!""" Share Kearny Street with 15 Dieseaseal bus for
3-blocks then diverge. Flyer TCs had Only Trolley Destinations
(for obvious reasons) so I didn't have such a sign. Refuted what
he said and he says that I Changed The Signs and calls me a Liar. I
rolled the sign so he could see that 15 doesn't exist but he just
stooooood there scowling with his hands behind his back.
*_Normally_* Asians are quite good about such incidents, but this man
was an exception. He probably saw my Run_# And Then Only Saw
What He Wanted To Saw~!~!~!
.
The Above I~S The Rule when a passenger has found that he is on the
wrong beese -- driver // operator changed the signs and is a
Liar~!~!~! Why don't all the other passengers make the same claim
then~?~!~? We See What We Want To See -- remember that on Jury
Duty~!~!~!
.
Traveling Westbound on Sutter and a passenger comes up (already on bus
for many blocks) and asks when we will reach Candlestick Park (Park
is W~A~Y SE -- udder direction~!~!) I say Not Until the 12th
of Never~!~!~! Apparently newbie to bus riding - thought he just
jumped on any available bus and it went where he was going~!~!~!
.
My outer terminal is on Presidio facing southbound. When I leave I
go around the block to come back to Presidio heading North. Bus
garage is 4-blocks south of the terminal. When I make a relief at
4-PM there is a bus which comes out of the garage and heads due north on
Presidio to route 10-min ahead of me - I tell passengers this, point to
bus zone across the street, and they say: """But I Want To Go That
Way""" -- and they point North~!~!~! This has been going on for
Well Over 20 Years and EveryOne save two or three says exactly the
same thing~!~!~! Udderly amazing~!~!~!
.
Peebles here donut watch the signs and wouldn't know what to do with the
signs if they did -- ours list route and Terminal Downtown and
Terminal outer end depending on direction of travel. With rolls our
signs were split - curbside is the route (3-JACKSON for me) other
side would say SUTTER/MARKET for downtown and PRESIDIO/CALIFORNIA
when heading outbound -- with electronic signs either both are
displayed simultaneously or they alternate between route and
terminal. There are cutback signs for short turns but it is
GUARANTEED that no one ever sees that~!~!~! Think PRCo system was
better in that regard -- 43-NEELD is Much Better than 42-DORMONT__NEELD.
.
.
Here are *_some_* special signs (There are Many Other Routine Signs)
on our electronic signs in SF (now, as a matter of expediency for the
programmer with the DVAS system, ALL buses carry ALL route signs, even
though Trolley Coaches can't work the TrolleyCar and diseaseal bus
lines:::::)

.

sometimes referred to as 2 snakes mating~!~!~!
.
9928 MOSCONE CENTER
.
9930 EXCURSION
             geese this one replaces CHARTERED
.
9998 NEW BUS IN TESTING
.
.
NOWHERE IN PARTICULAR is not on our electronic signs -- it was on
the roll signs -- I have a listing somewhere and will post it as a jpg
if and when I find it~!~!~!
.
.
When I get onto the last leg of my bus route on my last (pull-In)
trip, I sometimes change the sign to one of these exotic ones -- I
pulled in with OPERA SERVICE displayed last night -- NO--ONE
noticed, not even Muni peebles~!~!~!
