Here is a Poor and Mutilated photo from 1941 - nevertheless, it shows 
one car in the stub track with the other on the loop at Roscoe.     
Usually a service car would come upon a disabled car before help could 
arrive  --  except that headways were 30-min, sometimes hourly~!~!~!     
The service car would push the disabled car to the loop  --  getting it 
into the stub is another problem  --  best to isolate it at a siding  
--  use the other track to go around it  --  then back up to it and put 
out the tow bar and tow it to the loop and back it into the stub~!~!~!
