We may need a definition~!~! Is this the number displayed on the
trolleycar itself or something that scheduling would use?
.
In SF we display the _Run_Number_ while many / most other places display the
_Train_ number.
.
A _Run_ is the schedule for the operator / driver for the day.
.
A _Train_ belongs to the trolleycar and is its complete schedule for the
day. A _Train_ can consist of one or more _Runs_ -- i.e., _Train_0301
is the first bus out on the 03-Jackson at 6.30-AM and the last bus on the
3-Jackson into the barn at 2-AM. Three different drivers (_Runs_) drive
the bus on its schedule for the day.
.
_Block_ is used In San Francisco to refer to a group of runs chosen by an
Operator // Driver to work. Operators // Drivers work 5-days -- _Runs_
can go out 5, 6 or all 7 days of the week and an individual _Run_ can have
Sat/Sun Hol off, Sat/Sun off, Thu/Fri off, Mon/Tue off etc. The days off
for these runs are assembled into 5-day groups and given a _Block_ Number
which is then chosen in seniority order by an operator // driver for his
work schedule for the next several months.
