That's almost as funny as greasing the rails on a downgrade or tying rope 
between the line poles and just below the "running wire" at four hundred 
foot intervals (the latter was a stunt some college kids pulled in Indiana 
seventy or eighty years ago.)
Our Civis "trolley buses" in Las Vegas use an onboard diesel generator 
instead of overhead so we could have all sorts of fun next time you visit. 
Please see the attached images. One shows the Civis as a trolley bus. The 
other also  shows the Las Vegas version with diesel-electric power.

To get back on topic, I wonder if anybody ever tricked a motorman at the end 
of the Library line by throwing the switch  to force the car onto that 
center stub track?
