[PRCo] and on the topic of inclines

Apparently Keeling's incline at the Quarry above S 21st St (East
Birmingham Railroad St) connected to a miles-long haulage road inside
their mine at the top of the hill? Like, the mine just kept going back,
south, into the hillside. Should be a Keeling Coal wikipedia article which
references a 1900ish engineering text which mentions a college engineering
class tour of the mine workings.
Other things I've found recently were rights of way from mine haulage
railways down the Becks Run and Streets Run valleys (and the ex-PRR
ex-PV&C Mon Division bridge at Becks Run accomodates the right of way at
Becks Run, to this day)... but if you chase old maps back into the Becks
Run valley there are at least 2 more coal inclines tucked away back in the
valley. I may try trudging around up there and by the Neff St portal area
of the "old coal tunnel" in the spring. No point in bothering with the
south portal; There are houses squarely on top of it. (Unless it's one of
those "odd manhole in the basement" deals.)
