>From what I have heard it has been done. The Chestnut Hill business community put pressure on PennDot for this and the tracks were rebuilt in 2008. Some people think there will be a Chestnut Hill trolley in 2009, although nothing official has been said. This would be separate from the SEPTA bus route, and more of a local business promotion. Economic stimulus?

Please verify or explain this. Thanks in advance:
"Hi Kenny,
Did you see the report on Fox News Channel this weekend on PennDot's plan to
replace the unused trolley tracks on Philadelphia's Germantown Ave? For 23
years I lived 3 blocks north of the trolley tracks where SEPTA discontinued
service in 1992. PennDot want's to spend $3,000,000 replacing the tracks,
but SEPTA doesn't want to restart the trolley service when buses are more
efficient along that route. Germantown Ave. goes back to the Revolution,
with several old houses displaying plaques stating that George Washington
slept there during the War. Some sections still have cobblestones for
pavement and the road bed is about 30' wide.
Take care,
Tony"
