[PRCo] Railroad accidents

I said something the other day in connection with the little girl who
was hit by a streetcar in Pittsburgh and killed ... the piece in the
root cards (or raut cards) about how good the fenders work.

Remember my comment about how railroad enginemen don't avoid accidents?

Tonight's Lancaster New Era ... man on motorcycle tried to challenge
a Norfolk Southern locomotive, proving that both objects could not
occupy the same space at the same time. Guess which one lost?

The cyclist was wearing a helmet. New Holland police officer Mark
Willwerth said, "I have never seen a helmet damaged that bad." The
cyclist went head first into the locomotive's diesel oil tank!

And while the locomotive was parked in New Holland and the accident
being investigated, a lady fell over the railroad tracks. I guess
the tracks jumped up and tripped her? She had a blood alcohol level
of 0.289.

Railroads are hazardous. We need to get rid of them. Or close all
the motorcycle dealers and wine and spirits shops.

And Wednesday night's newspaper had a fine candidate for the Darwyn
awards had not the people been elderly. They had probably already
breed. Seems that Tuesday a storm went through here ... the same
one that hit Iowa last weekend and Cleveland on Monday. It knocked
power out for about 110,000 Philadelphia Electric Company customers,
mostly in the northeastern suburbs. So this couple cranks up a
portable gasoline driven generator, plugs in the refrigerator and
freezer and goes to bed. Next morning the food was cold and so was
the couple. No one told them that you cannot put the generator in
the kitchen, close all the windows, pump exhaust into the house all
night, and expect to live. They both died of carbon monoxide
poisoning.
