It would be very interesting to observe all routine processes that were
associated with everyday operation. Motormen, supervisors, car light and
heavy maintenance workers, track and overhead maintenance crews etc.
Who can tell us how all this worked 50 years back in time???

Mr.Cefer - what always fascinated me was the amount of city cars used on the
Interurban lines even though they had 35 PCC cars dedicated to this service.
Even when operating to Charleroi and Washington the base car requirement was
about 16 or 17 cars wasn't it - Pittsburgh to Charleroi and Washington. PM
rush may have seen another car or two for base because of increased running
time and congestion on single track as well as other traffic. This left
quite a few cars for some kind of tripper service but of course some are
laid up for maintenance purposes at times aren't they. It also seemed that
they used Air-Electric city cars for tripper service as opposed to
All-Electric but then South Hills didn't have that many city All-Electrics
in the early to mid-1950s -- believe the Carrick 1770-1774 moved to South
Hills upon Carrick closure but some of the original South Hills 17s were
shifted elsewhere weren't they.
