Ed:
Regarding our discussion last night about the diversions on the Fifth
Avenue lines during the removal of the hump in 1912-1914, each of
what we consider to be Fifth Avenue lines (Negley/Center, Highland,
Ellsworth-Wilkinsburgh, Hamilton) had different diversions during the
removal of the hump. They also were not necessarily 5th Avenue.
The two Bunker Hill lines, for example, were split at different times
between Forbes and 5th.
I'm running into the same problem I had with Frankstown, East Liberty
(86), Aspinwall and Butler Street. I simply cannot cut and paste
the downtown diversions and terminal changes onto the different
routes that one would think used the same streets because they didn't
necessarily always use the same streets.
Oh yes, Center and Bedford may have come in the same trunk but they
too didn't always loop on the same streets Dawntawn.
And yes, Ed, I see where there is still a hunk of Diamond Street that
remains with the old name between Forbes and 5th. Be nice if we had
the dates of all the street name changes
