Every (very few) picture I've been able to lay hands on of the South Side 
from before 1950 shows no clock on the 1899 building which was the old 
brewery. The shots of the new building in 1950 show no obvious indication 
of a clock on the tallest part of the old building, which is, 
incidentally, less large and less high than the tower on the new building, 
so *if* it was on that building, they'd already taken it down.
