Dallas Area Rapid Transit Authority has posted today on their own
news website a 1953 film of trolleys, mostly at the Texas State Fair
in Dallas. There are some PCCs included. Trolley service in Dallas
ended three years later. Yes ... I know ... its 8 mm film ... not
sharp ... but the railfans in those days were in the north or in
California. This is really the first film I have ever seen from
"Big D little a double ll as." George Roush may have been the only
one active in Dallas then ... he was the only one in the NRHS
directory that I can remember.

Now the good news ... On September 14th DART opens the first four
stations on the Green line, restoring rail service to the state fair
grounds for the first time in 53 years. The 2.7 miles that will
open go from Pearl station on the existing line southeast to Deep
Ellum, Baylor Medical Center, Fair Park and Martin Luther King, Jr.
stations. The remaining 14.9 miles of the Green line are scheduled
to open in December 2010.

Applause!!!!!!

The website like below leads to the news bulletin they sent out today.

For those who missed it ... Vancouver opened the subway to airport on
the 18th of August ... without fanfare and three months ahead of
schedule. Sound Transit opened the first 14 miles of the 15.7 mile
line from Seattle to the SEATAC airport on July 18th. Portland is
supposed to open the Clackamas light line on September 12. Last of
all, Los Angeles has pushed back the opening of the East Los Angeles
extension of the Gold Line into mid October.
