The 1923 date refers to the beginning date in a specific period covered by a
section of the copyright law.

I thought Kalmbach published this title, not CERA.

Nothing about 1923. Wm D Middleton was not born until 1928. I don't know
where they came up with 1923. The CERA website no longer mentions this book.
It would have been up to CERA to renew the copyright.
