To answer your question with same:
All of the above?;-)

Nothing wrong with being a sports fan is there and
there are different levels of participation.  All the
above are fine.   In editing Mr.Lybarger's email you
cut the 'theme' of his comments  (which are added below
and here:)

"We're happy, so we destroy things that belong to others."

Crossing that line is plain wrong.  Enjoy the sport,
rally the team, sport the colors, but don't destroy.
