[PRCo] Re: Found 'Em

We know Fred likes to answer questions addressed to others, don't we? And
once again, he has. But I'll add a couple items, anyway.

1. I know nothing about Mr. Snyder, other than that he is identified as the
other man in the photo.

2. I had dinner with Chick Siebert in January, on the 7th, to be precise.
Among other things, we discussed his upcoming 93rd birthday on January 12.

3. Although Chick's vision is deteriorating enough that he can't drive at
night any more, his brain is not deteriorating. I would match its function
against any one of ours...and Chick's might prove to be more than equal!

4. One of Chick's pleasures in life is exploring abandoned (and sometimes
not-so-abandoned) rights-of-way, and he had business cards printed for that
endeavor. His "company" is called Footwork Associates," though he doesn't
get out as much any more. The man has a tremendous sense of humor.

5. In Chick's basement is the O-scale Venango Traction Company, power for
which runs through a K controller. The buildings and cars are
scratch-built, based on actual plans, photos and observations. It's been 52
years in the making. Absolutely stunning.

6. Chick has authored two books, one on the Northwestern Pennsylvania
Public Service Corporation and its predecessors, and the other on Valley
Railways. His research for these volumes is now housed in the PTM Library,
as is his 1600+ piece negative collection of traction subjects that began in
1939. There's quite a variety...I know, because I housed every one of them
last November and December!

7. Chick is conversant in many subjects besides trolleys and railroads.

8. He hitches a ride to PTM once a year or so with John Swindler, and they
stay here. My wife likes him a lot, too (and John as well!).

Hope this provides more insight.

Ed
