Follow this link http://www.mit.edu/~jdreed/t/charlie.html to learn more
about the song, the reason for writing, and probably more than you would
ever want to know.

In light of music and slides, I am not sure if I ever posted this here.

The Pennsylvania Polka was reworded in the 1970's to the Steeler Polka. I
wrote this for the 2005 performance of the IUP Trombone Choir at the
Pennsylvania Music Educators Conference in Hershey.

The Sousa tie to Pennsylvania is many. He & his band gave more performances
at Willow Grove Park than any other. He even wrote "March of the Mitten
Men" and "Willow Blossoms" in honor of the Philadelphia Traction Company.
Sousa died in Reading after a rehearsal with the Reading Municipal Band; the
last work he rehearsed: "The Stars & Stripes Forever", our National March.
