Interesting to note is the paragraph stating "the high price of oil" is
blamed for the rise in costs of this project. Apparently the writer, Mr.
Ritchie, does not buy gasoline. A lot of US businesses (some transit
authorities, who think they are private businesses included, are jumping on
the Bailout Money Bandwagon. Cleveland RTA wants to cut more service in
February. This appears to be a way to 'look poverty stricken' so they can
grovel before the new government for some of the money. In case they missed
the point, it is no longer about how much money can automatically be thrown
at it, it is now about what can each entity do to help themselves out of the
rut they put themselves in. This would also include cutting executive
bonuses and perks. Oh dear, such a sacrilege.
Too bad PATransit didn't build the Northside rail line back in the 1970s
when it was first talked about. Had that been done the only thing that would
have had to have been done in this era would have been Northside track
relocation to serve the new sports venues. Also talked about back then was
another light rail connector to Oakland from Downtown. A contraflow bus lane
(and only in one direction, outbound) was the final outcome of that.

Remember "The Bridge To Nowhere" ? Now Pittsburgh can have "The Tunnel To
Nowhere".
