I've typed all the route cards for the regular day routes first,
leaving the more esoteric things to do later.
By esoteric, I talking routes that were abandoned very early such as
the line to Dream City Amusement Park or Luna Park or the North Side
Loop.
Well here is one that struck me as a railfan's dream fantrip ...
It's called the route 508 Homestead - Braddock night car. This is
the initial route prior to the change of March 2, 1904. There is no
schedule number. No date. But there is a route.
Hang on guys. This one goes everywhere. From pillar to post and
ricochets off a few open hearths too.
From Duquesne Junction (that's the south end of the Rankin Bridge in
Munhall)
Across the West Braddock Bridge (you might call it the Rankin Bridge)
Then across the Rankin Viaduct (rt 55)
then down Fleet Street
Out Talbot Street past Rankin Car Barn (rt 67)
up 8th Street (this piece of track doesn't show on the PERC/PRMA/PTM
map)
east for less than a block on Braddock Avenue (rt 55)
Then up the Library Street hill into North Braddock (this is
eastbound on 61 or 63)
And on up Jones Street in North Braddock. (now you're running
inbound on route 64)
Now into Wilkinsburg on route 64: Corey Avenue
Center Street
Hankins Avenue
Woodstock Avenue
Roslyn St.
Noble St.
Orehard St.
Braddock Avenue
Edgewood Ave (Edgewood Boro)
Swissvale Avenue (Wilkinsburg)
Coal St.
Franklin St.
Mulberry St.
Kelly St.
Peebles Sgt.
Forbes St. through Oakland
Atwood Street
5th Avenue
High St. (this was later named 6th)
6th Avenue
7th St.
Penn Avenue
Cecil Alley
5th Avenue
Oakland Avenue
Forbes St
Murray Avenue (now outbound on 68)
Hazelwood Avenue
Private right-of-way
Brown's Bridge
2ndAvenue (Homestead)
Amity St.
8th Street
Mifflin Township Road
back to Duquesne Junction, Munhall.
This was for the guy who can't sleep and wants to cover as much track
as possible in one day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
