Oddly enough, Milwaukee's and Cleveland's systems were once part of the same
holding company, as were the Washington DC and St. Louis systems. It was the
North American Company.
Milwaukee was so busy building interurban lines, that Insull's companies and
Northern States Power wound up hemming them in before they started to expand
their electric power services.
