We have a very 'international' fleet. Japanese heavy rail cars by Tokyu
(high platform) and Italian light rail cars by Breda (low platform). I also
belive we are the only city (in the US anyway) to mix light rail and heavy
rail on the same tracks. What is known as the "joint operation area" extends
from Terminal Tower, east to Kingsbury Junction a little east of E. 55th
Station. Noteworthy is the fact that the Breda cars are being rebuilt at the
RTA Brookpark Shops. When the rebuilt cars (very nicely done, too) are
finished they sport two bulders plates in the "A" cab. Of course, right now
I can't remember the company doing the rebulding. Heavy rail cars are to be
rebuilt next. They really need it after 25 years of hard service.
