Don't remember a thing. We moved out in August 1949 to Lancaster
County into a rented house and by August 1950, when the lease
expired, we were in a house on Delp Road north of Lancaster.
Actually it was R D 8, Box 313. Dad subdivided that lot in 1973 ...
I am sitting only 50 feet from that house right now.
But my my mother's brother had less tan fond memories of that snow
storm. He moved from an apartment in the grandparent's home off
Perrysville Avenue to his own new house in Cheswick as the storm was
starting. They got the moving van emptied but he claims the movers
never made it back to Pittsburgh ... they ended up stuck in the snow
somewhere between Cheswick and Pittsburgh. For those who do not
know the Allegheny Valley that well, in good weather, it is probably
a 15 minute drive up the Allegheny Valley Expressway from the point
where East Ohio Street turns into the expressway near Millvale to the
Cheswick exit today, perhaps even less.
