[PRCo] Re: Two Items Needing The Attention Of THE LIST

My entire point has been that I AM NOT GOING TO BE HERE IN EARLY NOVEMBER,
not that I oppose a meeting. I also think it should be more than "play
day." There should be some educational component, a concept which most of
the others seem to embrace as well. The fact that PTM is going to have half
of its long siding torn up in this time period is a significant deterrent as
well.

While the shop tour will be of interest, I suspect some would rather ride
Port Authority's LRT system. For that you need some kind of special
dispensation if you don't want to pay a fortune, since there is no more day
ticket here. And I've been told that more field trips would be welcome
(West Penn, Wheeling, SEL+BVT, Harmony & Short Line, for example).

If people are going to come from any distance, they have a right to some
kind of "production" in return for their nickel.

In my opinion, like it or not, the purpose of a "get together" is not to
view a Cecil B DeMille type extravaganza, or be roped into participating in
a "dog and pony" show. The purpose of a "get together" is human in nature.
It is for the participants to do just what the name implies. To get together
and enjoy each others company. A major production is not necessary.
We will not be able to have a meeting of The List at PTM this year,
according to Ed. They (PTM) are too busy to accommodate us and Ed thinks we
need the Cecil B DeMille flamboyance and showmanship in order to have a get
together. That's fine with me, I can wait for that. This List Meeting has
always been my idea, right from the start two years ago, and I never wanted
a major production made of it.

I am getting permission from PATransit to tour the South Hills Village
shops. If anyone wants to go with me, let me know. I am aiming for sometime
in early November. We can look at the PATransit facility, ride the current
light rail lines and have dinner. A decent day without making a major
production of it. Again, anyone wanting to go with me, let me know.
