Mr.Schneider,
Thank you for the photos. I have seen photos of the Washington
local cars about 1950 and later; they had very decent passenger
loads. I assume the photos are from a digital camera; they are crisp
and clear with excellent detail aren't they.
Phil

Thought you guys might like one more picture of 4398 last weekend.
This shows the ticket holders who paid the $4 extra to tour the
Trolley Display Building (a.k.a. Blimp Hanger) leaving the car at "Allison."
The man waiting for them is ageless ... that's Art Ellis, who worked
for Pittsburgh Railways in the scheduling department and
is now 90 years old. He was giving the tour last Saturday.
I have to wonder if Pittsburgh Railways ever had this many people on a
double-ended car after the trunk routes were all converted to single-end
low-floor cars and the double-enders were relegated to transfer lines.
Maybe 99 or 59 in the rush hours..... Perhaps.
The second picture shows Art just as he got out of his car to conduct the tour.
I wish I was in as good a shape today as he is at 20 years my senior.
