The following story was in today's Washington (PA) Observer-Reporter. It's nice when the trolley museum gets such nice publicity. Link is provided below for those who want to print it.

A trolley ride back in time

Taking a trip back in time with my 4-year-old grandson was pretty cool. On a recent Sunday afternoon, at the urging of my high school friend and with three grandkids in tow, we were off on our trip to visit the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum. We had a blast being treated to not one but two rides on warm and cozy trolley cars from years past.
I remember well the streetcars rolling along the streets of my neighborhood as a child in Pittsburgh.

We were greeted by "Mr. Conductor" Bryant Schmude and a friendly elf, "Wimpy." With the clang of the bell and the sound of steel wheels, we were off on our trolley ride. The conductor explained the difference between the South Pole and North Pole. He also talked about the signifcance of getting chunks of coal in your stocking. And how with just the right pressure put on that chunk of coal that black rock could turn into a diamond.

As we boarded our second trolley, known as the Santa Trolley, we were greeted by elves who led us in singing carols and stories as we awaited the arrival of Santa Claus. Santa visited with each child and listened to their wishes. Hot chocolate and cookies awaited us at the end of our ride at an adjacent building. It was heartwarming to see the dedication and passion of the entire crew and staff of the museum as they re-create days gone by. The great model train display topped off our trip back in time.

Not having our fill of trains and trolleys, we had a quick lunch and headed off to Chestnut Street. We arrived at the Freedom Center Christmas and Village model trains display. We enjoyed many trains and trolleys rolling along the minature tracks. Their sizes were as small as inches to super-big garden varieties. To our surprise, Mrs. Claus and "Wimpy" the elf were there with a friendly welcome. The men who were operating the various trains also showed the passion and love of their hobby of all things train.
I live in neighboring Allegheny County, but my heart was left in Washington County. Two thumbs up! What a great time we had.
