Gang, I am forwarding this to Pgh PCC people in hopes of helping "Professor
" Miller:
I am sure many model rail fans fully or partially interested in the trolley
world have noticed both Con-Cor and Bowser are releasing HO models of a PCC
trolley car. Although both have DCC compatibility, neither model has sound.
Con-Cor suggests using a Digitrax sound decoder and downloading my Peter
Witt Streetcar sound project from the Digitrax web site, indicating that the
sounds are similar (?).
I would like to develop a true PCC sound project to contribute to the
modeling community as I have done with the Peter Witt and other traction
sound projects, but I do not have the necessary sound recordings from an
operating PCC car. (I tried a couple of months ago at the Seashore museum in
Maine but equipment failure spoiled that attempt.)
So my plea to the modeling community: if anyone has access to a collection
of PCC operating sounds and would like to participate in this project please
get in touch with me ( <mailto:tractionfan%40aol.com> tractionfan at aol.com).
To develop a comprehensive sound project I need clips of all bells,
whistles, gongs, buzzers, doors, air compressors, brake reservoir air
releases, brake squeals, controller activity, etc. If anyone has sound clips
of any or all of these sounds, please be in touch. I will do necessary sound
editing, clipping, etc., and the programming to develop a sound project
suitable to load into a Digitrax sound decoder.
Fred Miller
I, of course, don't have anything but would be willing to help anyone
support Professor Miller, who does superb work !! Let me know if I can do
legwork or support transportation or funds.
