Pittsburgh Railways (1950) was a publicly traded stock, but very few shares
were issued outside the Harris family and its companies, which owned the
majority of the stock. Some employees had shares; we have a photocopy of a
certificate in the PTM Library but not an original. When the company
disposed of the street railway properties, it was known as Pittway Corp.,
which freely traded on the American Stock Exchange with the ticker symbol
"PRY" until its sale to Honeywell in 2000.
Have never seen a certificate for either of the other two entities knows as
Pittsburgh Railways, both of which went through bankruptcy reorganization.

Subject: [PRCo] Stocks
I was wondering if the Pittsburgh Railways was ever a public company and had
stock certificates. I like to collect these, but have not been able to find
any from the Pittsburgh Railways.
Thanks,
Jim
