This is for those who like steam locomotives. (Others hit the delete
key) Nickle Plate RR Number 765 has been running for several weeks on the
Cuyahoga Valley Railroad, between Cleveland, Akron and Canton, through the
Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The Cuyahoga Valley Railroad (CVR) is the
best way, other than hiking, to view the national park. I work as a
conductor and have had the pleasure of working (and getting cinders in my
eyes and hair) many trains behind NKP 765. The engine is owned by a group in
Fort Wayne, IN and is on loan to the CVR. 765 was built by Lima Locomotive
Works, Lima, Ohio, 1944 and is a 2-8-4 Berkshire. It weighs 404 tons and is
the largest operating steam locomotive East of the Mississippi River.
The CVR right of way is the old Baltimore & Ohio line. The photos may not
come through in the same order I attached them. Check the photo-number for
the information.

of the Cuyahoga Valley Railroad.
CVSRSteam0002: 765 running one-mile South of the Akron Howard Street Station
en route to Canton
CVSRSteam0003: Engineer and Fireman lubricating 765, just outside Akron
Station, prior to a passenger run.
CVSRSteam0004: Steam locomotives are very "labor intensive" machines.
Engineer and Fireman preforming maintenance on 765.
CVSRSteam0005: Fireman checking front end of 765 prior to passenger run.
CVSRSteam0006: 765 at Fitzwater Shops during shop open house and tour.
CVSRSteam0007: Southbound at Boston Mill Station. Change the photo to black
& white and it could very well be 1950 rather than Sept 18, 2010.
