I have not forgotten the Great Donora Smog!
My father worked in the zinc business and part of the blame for the smog fell upon the Donora Zinc Works, so he was concerned. He made several trips over there to confer with folks in that plant. I remember going with him on at least one such--I had to sit in the car til he finished his business. Got to see, but not ride, the interurbans and the local cars.
It was a really big deal in our neck of the woods back then.

A generation is about 20 years. A man's typical working life is 40 years. It has been over half a century since the smog episode in Donora. Certainly we've forgotten.
That applied to the grandparents and great grandparents of today's workers.
