[PRCo] Toll booths from hell

I JUST HAD A PRIVATE DISCUSSION WITH DERRICK ABOUT HOW DO YOU GET PEOPLE INTERESTED IN HISTORY?  

I guess some of us ... Derrick, Ed, Fred ... some of us are genuinely interested.   It helps us see parallels between today and the past.

Today we bitch about how Ed Rendell keeps trying over and over to toll (tax) Interstate 80 to pay for other projects.

Guess what, there is a precedent for everything.   

Can you imagine screwing up rush hour traffic with toll booths on the Liberty Bridge?   Years after it was built and the South Hills had developed and we traffic going through the Liberty Tubes, the county was considering charging tolls to go through the Liberty Tubes.   That happened in 1935.
